In the previous installment of the Project Evo buildup, the front strut tower brace and rear sway bar were added. The final piece in this initial chassis tuning, the WORKS rear strut tower brace / cage, is now bolted to the trunk area. It ties the rear strut towers to the rear of the trunk area floor, creating an ultrastiff square that lends well to chassis rigidity.

The rear of the trunk area is tied left to right by the RS trunk bar, which is a standard piece of equipment on the bare-bones Evo RS. Since our Project Evo is an MR edition, it does not come equipped with this feature. The RS trunk bar is a part of the complete WORKS rear chassis tuning kit.

Initial driving impression of the Project Evo with all the WORKS goodies proves a point - the chassis tuning works (no pun intended). The car feels solid and the loose feeling, especially under hard cornering, has dissipated much. And the rear sway bar is definitely eliminating certain understeer characteristics. The front of the car seems more pointed and turns in and out better, especially in high lateral load turns. Thumbs up.

This is the last element of chassis tuning that will be done topside of the Project Evo. Further chassis tuning will come from additional bracing under the chassis in the near future.

In the next installment, we hope to make more power through the use of some simple bolt-ons. And hopefully head up to WORKS for an ECU flash tune.
