The BMW Sauber F1 team launched their new F1.08 challenger for the 2008 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Supposedly the result of everything BMW has learned over the past 2 seasons, the new racecar is predicted by their drivers to competitive for the upcoming season - of course they say that… would they ever say the car is going to be crappy?

In any case, there is an incredible amount of aero modifications to the new chassis. Of special note is the front spoiler, with its super deep lower chin section and what appears to be a triple wing element. The sidepod aero is revised as well as the bargeboard sections. The backbone treatment behind the air inlet seems to have been extended as well. That should lend quite well to high speed cornering stability.

Tech specs read like a who’s who in the racing world:

Pushrod actuated suspension (Sachs Race Engineering)
Brembo brake calipers & carbon pads
Carbone Industrie carbon brake rotors
Bridgestone Potenza tires
OZ wheels
NGK spark plugs

And on and on…

Incidentally, Brembo showcased its Formula 1 brake calipers at the 2007 SEMA Show for the first time ever. Needless to say, it made this author drool and soak himself with saliva. Yes, digusting (the spit) yes gorgeous (the brake system) at the same time.
