Well, it’s a bittersweet day here at WebRidesTV, with good news and bad news.  We’re sitting here with an extremely large new user base because of our new SchwagMart!  We have to add more servers to our clusters to keep up with the demand!  Weve enjoyed several user submitted pictures featuring SchwagMart items, and we’ve even published a few of them.  Some pictures submitted were too risque even for us!

The SchwagMart has run for a total of 5 weeks, and has been a huge success!  This success has not been without some much needed tweaking, however.

Many have noticed fluxuations in SchwagMart item prices, and have inquired.  We figure that we should speak out a bit and let everyone know that we look to be here for a very long time, and that means changing the rules occasionally.  Hit the jump for the full story.

We’ve been trying to figure out how we can balance out the credit system so that we can run our business, and our users can get as much free stuff as possible as quickly as possible.  We’ve found that we’ve afforded our users plenty of opportunity to get an amazing amount of Schwag in a short period of time; shorter than we intended.

What does this mean?  Well, dispell all of the doubt about our longevity, because we love bringing you killer video content and killer Schwag; we ain’t stoppin’ any time soon.  Users that have ordered items from the SchwagMart WILL RECEIVE THEM IN A TIMELY MANNER, so no worries.

There were a few users abusing the site that have inflated the cost of certain items in the Mart, and we are addressing it by discontinuing our referral reward of 1000 points per referral.  Sadly, it was just inflating the cost of the items in the Mart so much that we have to squash it now.  The good news:  We DO PLAN to reinstate the referral bonus when we have membership promotions, so keep your eyes peeled for those times!

Discontinuing referral bonuses keeps everything in check, keeps the prices reasonable in the SchwagMart (though they will still fluxuate slightly due to supply and demand), and best of all, allows our users to be rewarded for being an active member of the website!  Our largest problem with the referral bonuses were from users that have created upwards of 50 accounts each, all referring to a single account!

You really can’t blame anyone but us for this; we were just so damn eager to give you guys points that we didn’t realize that there are indeed some folks out there looking to crash the system.

After this tweak, we should see prices settle at a reasonable position, and everyone will be happy.
