Jay appears to have little faith in the success of an American Top Gear.  His main fear is that the show would not be produced by real life “car people.”

In The Sunday Times Leno states ”Another problem for Top Gear in America is the biting humour and criticisms of the cars. My great fear in America is that, for instance, if Kia was our sponsor this week, we’d have to say the car was fantastic.  In my mind I can just see Jeremy lambasting Americans for what they did to his show. ”

This shows Leno’s respect for the original Top Gear show.  In order for the American Top Gear to be successful, we feel that Leno would have to be part of it.  I mean, who else is going to play Clarkson?  Maybe that is the main problem.  We are expecting it to be just like the original Top Gear.  Why can’t we just come out with an original car show that is entertaining?  Why must it be labeled “Top Gear”?

BBC’s Top Gear is already perfect in many people’s eyes.  The American version would have to live up to these expectations if it came out.  Any flaws in the show would be pointed out immediately.  The show is doomed.

The claw

Sean Ironside was selling his beloved R32 GTR Skyline at Envision Auto in Alberta, Canada when on Wednesday the 26th it was stolen while out for a test drive. The thief was none other then The Claw(named for the lack of fingers on his left hand), a mastermind that decided to take the car after leaving a fake id with Envision Auto and then proceeding to drive around town asking people to race. After a bit of time members of the web forum beyond.ca in the area found The Claw driving the car and eventually followed him back to his house. The entire story along with video’s reactions from the beyond.ca community can be found at the beyond.ca forums

When the new Audi TT was released in 2007, it marked a completely new direction for the vehicle. Gone was the VW Beetle like styling, which had relegated the car among many circles as a "chick’s car." Although the previous generation TT was even used as a platform for DTM (Deutsche Tourwagen Meisterschafte) racing in Europe, it just never caught on. Whatever the reason may have been, the old TT was about as masculine as two guys in a white VW Rabbit Covertible, circa 1989. Well, the new TT delivers new style and performance befitting the revival of the Audi marquee. Looking at the vehicle straight on, the family lineage is unmistakable. Read the rest of this entry »

Howdy webriders! Its Dr. VW here to take you on the latest Auto Adventure! Before we go any further, however, I’d like to announce that I am changing my name to Prof. Yugo. Today I finally realized that at the bottom of my soul, I don’t really love VW’s. I love Eastern European cars from the motherland, like the charismatic little Yugo.

The Nissan 350Z (Z33) has been met with extreme levels of welcome and enthusiasm since its launch. And car lovers have taken this platform to new heights, only helped by the endless plethora of aftermarket tuning companies and their offering for the VQ35 powerplant. But Nissan has never taken the leap to offer a vehicle branded with their motorsports / tuning division, Nismo. The parts are offered here in the United States though Nissan dealers and specialty parts retailers, but not as a complete vehicle. That is until the Z Coupe Nismo - affectionately known as the Nismo 350Z around these neck of the woods - was introduced in 2007.

It’s not often that a vehicle comes around that completely alters one’s perception of something specific. Traditionally speaking, the Detroit three have held a special place in my mind when it comes to full-sized trucks. The usual body on frame construction and the perception of “American tough” are usually what comes to mind when considering a vehicle to haul and tow very, very heavy things. Nissan made their bets on the Titan truck. Their bets were wrong. The Titan never caught on like the Renault-owned Japanese maker wished it would.

Now, however, Toyota is making a viable push with the Tundra full-sized truck. And it’s a man’s truck if there ever was one.
