Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here. Hope you all had a good mothers day! I’m back again to bring you part three in our Slipping Under the Radar series. The last few times, we talked about some pretty sweet rides. This time, we’re going to talk about the effects of owning such a radical ride. Aside from the the astronomical maintenance costs and monthly speeding tickets, owning a sexy car is pretty neat. One of the common conceptions about sexy cars is sexy girls. One needs only to attend events like Hot Import Nights (HIN) to begin to understand where that particular idea comes from! Well on my travels along the internet highway, I came across this interesting article, from a woman, rating some of the more common sports cars out there and their sex appeal. Hit the jump to find out what we thought about her choices!

The Nissan 350Z:

While the author of the article seemed to find lots to like about the 350Z, citing the masculine looks and throaty sound, one has to wonder what the 350Z has to offer when compared to the MUCH cheaper and much more masculine Mustang. A Premium Mustang GT convertible will set you back almost 10k less than the top of the line convertible Z, while the engine is a much beefier 400HP 4.6L V8 as opposed to the Nissan’s puny 3.5L V6. When it comes to manliness, I don’t think the Z could possibly win this pissing contest. While some might attribute this to the time honored domestic vs. import debate, I really think that the Mustang has a lot more masculinity going for it, with raw power and chiseled good looks. I think the Nissan would only earn the “cute” designation from many women, while the Mustang would be met with a hair toss and some batting of the eye lashes.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder:

If there was ever such a thing as a “chick” car, this is it. The author seemed to only like it because of the comfortable interior. While I think most girls would appreciate the effort of securing a comfortable, stylish convertible, I just don’t think it has the cojones to really woo a woman over. Underpowered, feminine looking, and almost too comfortable, one wonders why the guy doesn’t go for a little sophistication with a BMW 128i convertible instead. Comparably priced with 10 times the class, I don’t think a girl would place a Mitsubishi on a higher rung than a BMW, despite the fact that many people consider the 1 series the “poor mans Bimmer”. The interior quality as well as the looks are definitely better than the Eclipse, but the overall package gives a James Bond feel to the date, rather than a scene from the Fast and Furious.

Mercedes Benz CL550

No complaints here! If you’re rich enough to own one of these, chances are you don’t have a problem finding cute girls-even if it isn’t a convertible! I gotta agree with the original author on this one.

Audi TT Roadster

While the Author pointed out that the little “putt putt” engine left much to be desired (and it does) , she still had good things to say about this car. While Audi produces a good product, one has to wonder why someone would choose the TT over the VW Eos. The Eos is a hardtop convertible (that’s trick right there) and has a comparable engine. Same displacement, same number of pistons, but its a good 6k less than the TT, and looks a lot more manly than the Audi. While the Audi might carry some brand image, the VW has a brand image of its own. It all boils down to price, and I think in this case you get an equal car for less money, and the chicks will dig the hardtop conversion.

And finally…

The Porsche Cayman.

While I’m tempted to just say “nuff’ said”, I feel that the Author of the original article seemed to place the Mercedes on a higher level than the Cayman. While the 550 is more expensive, arguably classier, and good looking as all hell, the Porsche is the quintessential sex-mobile. What beautiful woman doesn’t dream of whipping around the bends in one of the most prestigious vehicles ever built? At a reasonable 50k, the Cayman looks like a bargain when compared to other sports cars that carry the same brand name weight, like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.

Hell I’d go so far to say that if you’ve got the money, take any Porsche in whatever price range you can afford and you’ll STILL attract more gorgeous women than a Mustang, Corvette, or any of the other cars that made this list. That is… unless your a total loser and socially inept. Chicks tend to smell that kind of stigma a mile off.

Hope you guys enjoyed the ride through this little Auto Adventure! Be sure to leave a comment or head down into the forums for some open discussion. This is Dr. VW- signing off.
