Audi releases shots of the Audi A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro concept, set to debut later this month.

The Audi A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro concept has a distinctly confident air about it. Sensational styling instantly sets the three-door show car apart from the standard production Audi A3.

Other significant changes include racing-style sport bucket seats, TDI Power-badged illuminated doorsills, aluminum shiftgate and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The door panels and floor mats also have been redesigned.

Ford Motor Co. was on the verge of turning things around, especially considering their latest fiscal quarter report of $200 million in profits… Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 650,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks to fix a brake hose that could weaken brake power. Ford is recalling the 2005-06 versions of the trucks with 5.4-liter three-valve engines, according to a posting today by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"Weaken brake power"? Sounds like another potential case of the Firestone tire disaster on Ford Explorers.

In a previous post a while back, the battle between the EPA and CARB (California Air Resources Board) commenced with the adoption of the new CAFE standard. Well, the battle continues to wage between the federal and state organizations.

The EPA has rules that CARB would not be able to mandate California-only emissions standards for new vehicles produced under the new CAFE standard. Under current laws, CARB has been able to force OEs to produce California-specific models. Obviously, this adds to the production costs of vehicles as a separate model with different emissions equipment have to be made on the line. CARB, in reaction to the EPA’s ruling, has vowed to fight the decision.

Mary Nichols, CARB’s head cheese, told engineers at an SAE conference that her organization’s plan would increase the variety of alternative, fuel-efficient vehicles and give the industry time and flexibility to meet the standards. Nichols said she was confident the next presidential administration would allow California to set the nation’s first greenhouse gas limits on cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles. All three of the remaining White House hopefuls have expressed support for a waiver allowing the California regulations to be enacted.

-months that is

As we posted when the story was new 17 year old Nick Hogan was in an accident involving him street racing with another passenger in the car(not wearing a seatbelt) in his dad’s supra under the influence of alcohol. Following the accident the passenger in the car has ceased higher brain function and will need to live with the aid of machines for the rest of his life. Nick will be serving 8 months in jail as well as a suspension of his license for the next 3 years time. Some may say this is a lot for the crime but I think this is nowhere near bad enough for him completely ruining his friends life as well as causing his friends family a lot of pain.

I hope it doesn’t hurt his racing career

Sebastian Loeb is one of the best rally drivers in the world. Currently driving for Citroen in the WRC he performs at the top level race after race giving his team great victories. I guess with his great success the hire-ups in the sport of racing will always need something to pick at.  The  chairman of the Confederation of African Countries in Motorsports, Surinder Thatthi, and the president of the World Rally Championship, Morrie Chandler, were both up in arms at the ‘unkempt’ Loeb. The fact that he was not clean shaven and that his hair was not cut was enough for them to both release a statement regarding it saying that “Of course these persons are an insult to real males”

Brabus manipulates the new SL . . .

Legendary Mercedes Benz tuners, Brabus has already started working on the newest Mercedes. The new SL has been tuned to the order of an amazing 730 horsepower, and an earth shattering 973 foot pounds of torque (electronically controlled to produce only 811 foot pounds). For the SL600, Brabus uses their rocket treatment on the monstrous v12. This rocket treatment increases displacement by almost a liter, helping this now 6.3-liter engine produce the astounding 730 horsepower. This tune up helps the 600 scream to 50 in 4 seconds, and in 10.5 seconds hits 124 mph. the 600 is electronically limited to a top speed of 219. The SL600 was not the only SL to get the Brabus treatment though … the entire SL line up can we be upgraded, with even the smallest V6 of the SL280 getting a boost to 332 horsepower. There are also changes of many levels available for everything from wheels to lights. The brakes and springs have also been upgraded to help handle the performance.

As I posted a few weeks ago there is a new subaru/toyota RWD car rumored to be in the works and it seems as if Nissan could be entering that fight as well. This new car is debated to be the most recent incarnation of the S platform, being the S-16. The S platform is the same platform that brought us the 240sx and Silvia. The new car is said to sport a 2.0 liter NA engine or a 1.6 or 1.8 liter turbocharged engine bringing projected horsepower to around 220. If this car was to come out the 3 tiers of nissan performance coupes would all be available once again; the GTR taking the place of the skyline, the 350z taking the place of the 300zx and this new car taking the place of the 240sx. My only hope would be that if this does end up coming about that it will come to the US in the form of something people would want to actually buy, keeping it from being plagued by low sales. I personally own a 240sx S-14 and think it would be a great idea if something like this came out. It seems as if the auto industry is repeating the early to mid 90’s, at least for import manufacturers.

oh n0ez m3

Kpipalldaway2(what a name) of the bimmer forums was driving down the 880 on his way to get more parts for an upcoming meet up. All of a sudden he spies with his little eye something that rhymes with pain. Well it doesn’t rhyme with pain but he sees a black object plummeting towards him. The object strikes his car and goes through the roof breaking his shoulder, destroying his M3 and, had it landed a bit more towards the driver side, he wouldn’t have been around to tell the tale. In pain and showered in glass he brings his car to a safe stop and then does the only thing that makes sense to do, takes Pictures!
