CNN is reporting that deaths as a result of traffic accidents is at a ten year low while deaths in motorcycle traffic accidents are on the rise. While Transportation Secretary Mary Peters gives the credit to advanced car safety technology and aggressive traffic law enforcement, it’s more likely that the decrease in deaths is due to the astronomical rise in gas prices, which pushes drivers to choose higher mpg/hybrid cars or alternative transportation. Happy Sunday everyone, Big_Blocker here with some exciting news for all of you Ford fanatics. The 2010 Mustang hit the track last month during North America’s largest classic car event, Road America. Last week I wrote about the new cars that will be featured in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen according to various blogs across the internet. This week I’m going to share with you the cars I’d like to see next summer when Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters near you and I. At first I thought Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg should stockpile the movie with exotic cars across the board, but what fun would that be if the movie was filled with cars 95% of the viewers have ever touched? I think what makes the movie so great is that it’s got cars you and I see on the road every day and cars that friends of friends drive. I can’t relate to a battle between an army of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. And here we go:

Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW back again for your weekly dose of foreign fridays. However this week… the news isn’t foreign. Every so often, something so important comes up that it takes precedence over the normal cycle of things. I know you all want to know about whats going on in Europe, Asia, and the rest of the world outside North America, but just this once we’re going to sidestep for a minute to talk about a trainwreck in progress right on American soil. Hit the jump to see the latest abortion from GM. Read the rest of this entry »
Impressions of the new Acura TL have already found their way online at Edmunds. Pictures of the car show a completely redesigned car that bears almost no resemblence to the model it replaced. The new TL seems to have an extremely high beltline, even when comparing to other new luxury cars such as the Mercedes Benz S Class and the Cadillac CTS series (looking at the technical stats reveal that this car is actually as big as the current generation RL). Perhaps consumers gravitate towards cars with high beltlines because they “seem” more comfortable and safer. Read the rest of this entry »
For those of you that haven’t been reading my Cars N’ Games series, I have been talking about my visit to the Quakecon convention in Dallas, Texas. So far we’ve covered the cars of Quakecon, a Blue Corvette, and a nice one-sided discussion on the world of racing games, but in all, I must say that the best part of Quakecon has to be the geeks people.
Greetings WebRides faithful, for all those wondering what happened to the MCotW last week allow me to explain. Last week I had intended to post the newest installment of MCotW when AT&T decided to take a s*** on my plans. You see, apparently when AT&T asked my dad if he wanted to bundle our internet and phone services together with no interruption in service they really meant to ask if they could f*** up our entire week with phone calls attempting to get the internet turned on. After countless hours on the phone and another few spent in anger management classes the internet got turned on this last weekend and after spending a few days in SLO moving into a new apartment I am back and ready to deliver one hell of a muscle car, the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle sYc or Yenko Chevelle. Now this wasn’t any ordinary Chevelle SS396 mind you, getting your hands on one of these beasts in 1969 meant you had to know a few tricks up your sleeve. Hit the jump. Now.

Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here. We haven’t gone on an auto adventure for a while, so I figured it was time to take a little trip! Today I’m going to talk to you guys about my newest best friend: My brand spankin new Garmin Street Pilot C550! Read the rest of this entry »
This post is going to be slightly different than the others. No, I am not going to stop patting myself on the back, and no, I will not give hydrogen cars any praise. Hell will freeze over before that happens.
Instead, I will be talking about and comparing today’s biggest console and PC racing games, and hopefully someone at EA will read what I have to say and perhaps make a proper racing game. I see it as me doing my part to help the world, little by little. First up PGR4: Read the rest of this entry »
As I alluded to yesterday, the world of cars and the world of games have quite the synergy in both industries. This fact is most apparent in the world of racing games.
