New photos of Audi’s new RS6 show a new front and rear fascia along with more information about significant changes in the new driveline. The new headlights are a lot more boxy than the previous generations (without any indication of the signature Audi LED DRL’s) and the rear bears much resemblance to the current generation A5.
Rumor has it that the new generation will be powered by a 5.0 Liter V10 engine with 4 valves per cylinder, twin double overhead camshafts, variable valve timing, augmented with twin turbos with side mounted intercoolers. This setup should be good for around 580 horsepower at 6200 RPM and 480 foot pounds of torque starting at a mere 1500 RPM.
With the BMW M5’s 500 horsepower (80 less than the Audi) and compareable curb weight, the RS6 seems to have a significant advantage over the BMW. It will be interesting to see what BMW and Mercedes will be rolling out with to compete with Audi’s new V10 Twin Turbo Monster.
