Despite living in Los Angeles I still have not seen an Audi R8 driving around on the streets, yet this will be the second time I am posting about a wrecked R8. The first wrecked R8 was not quite as spectacular as this one but it was interesting because it was all caught on film.

Photos of this new R8 wreck (courtesy of Autojunk.nl) show the Audi supercar half submerged in a muddy lake in a number of angles. Doesn’t look too out of the ordinary at first, until you look again and realize that the Audi is on one side of the river while the skid marks end at the other side. The driver must have been going at a tremendous speed to fling the car to the other bank.

The road looks relatively straight and safe for high speed shenanigans but some of the photos reveal waves along  the asphalt. Uneven asphalt would definately cause the car to lose control, even gain some air, at high speeds (which the R8 was likely traveling at). Regaining traction after landing would be disastrous if the wheels were even slightly askew (probably what happened here).

The car doesn’t look too damaged so hopefully the driver/passenger were unharmed. Shame that such a nice car had to be totalled like this.
