Dodge has recently started shipping out Challengers to get themselves a piece of the retro-throwback profit pie and Chevy is not far behind; they have just authorized the release of several pictures of the production version Camaro. These photos are courtesy of Kevin Kolvenbach (aka “RagSS” @ Camaro5) and proudly display a silver SS Camaro at the Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch in Pahrump, NY.
There are some small differences between this production ready model and the previous pictures that GM has released but small tweaks to the final version of a car are hardly surprising. This time around, the car has a slightly tweaked front grille that end in headlights that do not have projector lenses. Fender flares in the front and rear seem to be much more subdued but that could be due to the color difference with the picture I am comparing with.
Also there is a new slit right on top of the grille which is presumably for some form of ventilation/air induction. Whatever it does, I really hope it makes a huge difference because the front of the car looked a lot better without it.
I think that they should have chosen a car painted in a more ’sporty’ color to be used for these pictures, as the light silver is not the most flattering choice for a sports car. While these new pictures likely bring the Camaro down a notch (and closer to reality) in most people’s minds, it will definately look pretty mean with a drop, new grille, and wider/lower offset wheels.
Check out more pictures of the new Camaro.
