Most car nuts are familiar with the the two giant Porsche tuners, Gemballa and Techart, but might not have heard too much about 9FF until very recently. They are a shop that specializes in creating pumped up versions of everything that Porsche has for sale; they were created in 2001 and are based out of Dortmund, Germany. Going to their website yields a large number of pre-configured vehicles that should be enough for anyone short of a professional driver, but they are open to customization and further modification to create the exact car that is demanded by the buyer.

One of their cars that jumped out at me is the 9FF Cayman CR42 which features a lightly modified exterior, center lock racing wheels, and a powerful engine (displacing 4.1 Liters) that spits out 420 horsepower. I love this package because while the looks of the Porsche Cayman have always been appealing, the power that backs it up is pretty lackluster in its stock form. This bothersome problem is eliminated by 9FF, without using any forced induction!

They have named their latest creation the “9FF GT9R”; this car starts its story off with a Porsche 911 GT3. It receives a paint scheme that distinguishes this from your ordinary 911 GT3, bodywork changes, and a large wing in the back that is absolutely necessary at the speeds that this thing reaches. Center lock racing wheels are slapped on (they really like those don’t they?) and the exhaust is re routed to exit towards the side. From the front, this car might fool the casual onlooker into thinking that it is just a 911, but the back is extensively modified; there is now a shroud that flows from the rear quarter panels and a huge diffuser area that reveals parts of the engine, it reminds me of the Dodge Viper back end.

The interior also gets a remake: Recaro racing seats replace the stockers, everything is covered in Alcantara suede with plaid stitching, and carbon fiber trim adorns some of the surfaces. Most of the interior bits did not look like my taste, such as the wooden shift knob and the plaid stitching, but they would be pleased to change the interior to any way I feel if I were to order one.

This car runs with the most elite of supercars, with a flat six engine producing over 1,105 horsepower, thanks to two gigantic turbochargers. With this kind of power, it can reach 60 MPH in 2.9 seconds, an official top speed of 256 MPH; which is faster than the Bugatti Veyron’s record of 253 MPH, and this car does not even need to stop and unlock a top speed mode in order to get to the max.

9FF also has some other stuff in the pipeline such as a tuner version of the Porsche Panemera and bioethanol kits for your Porsche supercar. Stay tuned for some more blog posts on what they have to offer!
