Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here to giveĀ  a quickie update on what to expect in the coming days…

Tomorrow Night– San Diego Air-Cooled Tuesday Nights! This will be my first time at this particular meet, but hopefully the rain won’t deter people from showing up in force! I’ll be taking the “other” VW in the stable, my 1970 Karmann Ghia Coupe. Expect some fun, if dreary, pictures!

January 2nd: The San Diego Auto Show! You all remember last year don’t you? Buckle in for whole slew of coverage from yours truly. This year ought to be interesting, as the economy tanking and the Big Three strapped for cash will have changed the game a bit. Expect to see more compacts, some futuristic MPG misers, and a subdued atmosphere around the domestic car sections. As usual, I’ll weigh in with my picks, as well as bring you any news worthy of note.

The conclusion of the Jetta Resurrection! For those of you who remember, my brother managed to wreck his 97 MKIII Jetta. Well, after many hours of body work and welding, I managed to take her for a spin. She quickly overheated and ran poorly. Warped head and a blown head gasket. So what did I do? Tore the engine down. Well now the build up is back on! Watch the forums and the Blog for photo galleries, how-to’s, and video updates. Hopefully, it’ll be back on the road by year’s end!

Finally– for anyone aspiring to do basic work on their engines, look no further than Dr. VW’s Tuning Guide. Watch this month for various how-to’s, including Compression Tests, Spark Plug mixture readings, and a crash course in stick shift driving.

Should be an interesting holiday season! This is Dr. VW– out.
