honda-s2000-ultimate-edition_13

Honda finally got it right with the “Ultimate Edition S2000″ just as they officially announce that it’s all over for their famous two seat roadster with a high revving, naturally aspirated, V-TEC motor. The first generation, with the chassis code “AP1″ was produced from late 1999 to the end of 2003 and gained notoriety in the sport compact world for its stiff suspension, high output motor, and a chassis that did not compromise stiffness for an open top driving experience.  Nothing was really able to stand up to the S2000 at the time of its release; its major competitors either had much less power (the Mazda Miata) or were in a much higher price range (BMW Z3 and Porsche Boxster). Perhaps that’s why it went so long without any major changes, but in today’s sports car market it has become outclassed. There’s really nothing that the car does well anymore: the E92 M3 engine can match its redline and just about every sports car can outrun it on a track.  Read More >>

gt500

I was watching tv two nights ago and came across a show called Rides. As it was about the construction of a new Shelby Cobra concept (back in 2004), I was naturally curious. Well, that show got me thinking of Carroll Shelby again and because of that show, I have chosen the last ‘real’ Shelby muscle car for this installment. The 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500. Read More >>

Porsche 998

porsche

Judging from the latest spy shots of the upcoming Porsche 911, I am guessing that the next significant model update will be the most subtle one that the 911 lineup has had yet. For employees and enthusiasts, it will be known as the 998, but for non car people it will just be the 2011 Porsche 911. While the exterior did not undergo any major changes due to this generation shift, the drivetrain and suspension should have been improved enough to satisfy those looking for something new. Sadly, the world’s most beloved 4-banger performance sportscar will have its production halted after 2009. Honda announced today that the 10 years of production would be the end of the road for the S2000. The Honda S2000 has always represented a simple, affordable, and refined soft-top convertible. It might not be as large as a Chevrolet Corvette or Dodge Viper, but it provides that bang-for-the-buck and outstanding reliability. Read the original article here.

Another glimmer of hope for the American Automakers has manifested itself in the form of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, which has coincidentally just been spotted out in the wild courtesy of members over at BringBackTheSHO.com. The pictures might trick the untrained eye into thinking it is merely a new Ford Taurus (aka the Ford 500) under heavy camouflage gear. Followers of this iconic American vehicle will recognize subtle differences hiding underneath the black tape such as a rear deck spoiler, dual exhaust, larger wheels, and front and rear bumper changes.  A badge piece that sits opposite of the “Taurus” on the rear trunk lid has also been covered up.
