Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here with a neat set of tips and debunked winter myths for those driving through the wintry wastes. Hit the jump to check the link!

Here’s the link to the OG article.

I have to say, that’s a pretty useful set of tips and debunked myths. Usually you hear the usual bullcrap about driving slower and planning ahead- but these are useful for us adventurous types who will brave the weather to reach our destination. I would say that if I was adding any other tips they would be:

Buy a winter survival/roadside assistance kit from your local big box. You might be really glad you’ve got that tinfoil space blanket when you spin out into a ditch in east bumblefark.

Look out for ice patches. While you think this might be self explanatory; anyone who’s seen or experienced “black ice” knows it’s not so easy and often times you don’t even see the ice, rather you feel it as you speed over it.

Finally- in mountainous areas or places where deep drifts are known to accumulate, bring tire chains and know how to install them properly. I can tell you learning to put them on in near zero temps is NOT fun, nor is the repair bill later when you take out inner fender liner because the chains weren’t tightened all the way.

That’s all for tonight ladies and gents- Dr. VW signing off.
