Lexus’ first attempt to combat the BMW M3 and Audi S4 resulted in the Lexus IS-F. With 416 horsepower, the IS-F has plenty of kick in its step to skyrocket you into nirvana in less mere seconds. While everything under the hood impresses, questions have arisen over its aesthetics. While the new IS design is much bolder and aggressive than before, it doesn’t stack up to the M3’s elegance and passive ferocity. Regardless, the IS-F has been a solid competitor to the M3 and S4. The question I pose to you today is: Which make of the IS-F do you prefer? Hit the jump for pictures and details.

The IS-F is one beast of a ride. The stylish 10-spoke wheels and underbody kit reflect the sportscar’s internal prowess.

Five Axis:

This rendition of the Lexus IS-F looks like somehting Wolverine or Batman would drive. The new body kit and matte black give the IS-F a distinct killer look. Check out the WebridesTV video on the Five-Axis project. From Five Axis: “Lexus approached us with the idea of building an IS-F for the 2007 SEMA Show.  Of course, our response to that was an enthusiastic, “Hell YES!”  This was a huge year for Toyota, celebrating their 50th year.  It was also big for Lexus, displaying for the first time at SEMA along with allowing the industry a first hand driving experience with the all-new IS-F.  Lexus wanted to make a huge impact and what better way than with a Five Axis concept car based on the new IS-F.  Lexus’ wish list was pretty straightforward.  They wanted us to create a showcar that pushed the envelope of styling with a strong emphasis on performance!  They also wanted to give it that developmental, top secret, test car appearance and therefore requested that we finish its exterior in a matte black finish.”

Wald

Unlike the Five-Axis custom IS-F, the Wald takes a flashier approach to its aesthetic enhancements. From BallerRide: “While many Japanese tuners have turned their attention towards European luxury sedans, Wald International has gone domestic with its new styling package for the Lexus IS-F. Designed to compete with the M3 and the Mercedes C63 AMG, the recently-introduced stock model IS-F packs a respectable 417 horsepower on its own. However, it lacks the looks to back up the power. Wald’s new IS-F body kit takes care of that problem by adding a large rear diffuser, additional side air vents, and an aggressive rear wing to the car. The front of Wald’s IS-F features a new spoiler that lowers the ride height. Overall, Wald’s new package gives the IS-F a more vicious look. Although, we’d most likely switch out the wheels for a cleaner-looking set. Follow the jump for a rear end shot.”
