Excitement about the Murcielago LP670-4 SV has barely died down and Lamborghini has already released photos and information about their next project: the Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster. In addition to the open top driving experience, it will offer a small horsepower boost and minor aesthetic changes; small but crucial features that help differentiate it from its brother, the LP640 or the Murcielago Roadster.

It’s powered by the same 6.5 liter Lamborghini V12 engine but this time around it is able to muster up 650 horsepower, which is sent through a permanent all wheel drive system. This ludicrous amount of twist and grip sends this roadster to 60 MPH in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 205 MPH (without the top), making this one of the fastest production roadsters available. Some of its competitors will include the Bentley Continental GTC and Ferrari F430 Spider.

One of the most prominent aesthetic differences that I mentioned is the special paint scheme that includes Gray Grigio Telesto and Orange Arancio. Orange LP650-4 stickers adorn sections of the front bumper cover and side panels. The interior is also slathered in the same contrasting color scheme, with seats that are upholstered in different materials; the driver gets an Alcantara covering while the passenger gets Nero Perseus Leather.

It sure seems like they’ve exhausted all options for the Lamborghini lineup by now, which has been mostly the same since 2001. Theres a regular Gallardo, Spyder, sportier edition (LP540-4), and the stripper model (Superleggera). For the Murcielago: theres the base version, roadster, sportier edition (LP640), and the range topping LP670 SV. I’m sure that we’ll be seeing reports on a new Lamborghini model pretty soon…
