Now might be the perfect time to pick up that Sonata you’ve been thinking about. If you buy a Hyundai before August 31st you will be able to buy gas at $1.49 for an entire year/12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Just in time for the annual summer gas gouging! It also comes with Hyundai’s 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and their Hyundai Assurance, which will help you make payments on your car if you lose your source of income while still paying off your vehicle. Hit the jump for more info.

Unfortunately, it seems like Genesis Coupe owners will be stuck paying full price for their gas, as it was not among the eligible cars listed. It’s still a much better deal than Chrysler’s $2.99 gas for a year deal which proved to be a massive failure/scam, as gas quickly fell to much less than their guaranteed price almost immediately after the promotion. Oh yeah, and fun cars like the Dodge Viper, Dodge Challenger, or Jeep Wrangler were also excluded from their promotion. Right now, most of the gas stations in downtown Los Angeles are hovering around $2.75 to $2.85 and we have some of the highest gas prices in the country. Participants in Chrysler’s gas deal are getting a raw deal if they should exercise their gas guarantee, as they would be paying MORE than the real value! Hyundai gas participants will be saving approximately $1.50 per gallon of gas (assuming $3.00 per gallon for the sake of math). A Hyundai Santa Fe gets a combined highway/city 20 MPG, which means 600 gallons will be used over 12,000 miles. That comes out to $900 savings. Not the greatest deal ever, but since you aren’t giving up any other warranty program, why not? Combined with the other Hyundai incentive programs, possible rebates, and the already low MSRP of Hyundai cars (except of course the Equus), this only helps Hyundai’s appeal even more.
