Fisker Karma

Hopefully Fisker won’t imitate Aptera, who delayed projected delivery of the hyper-green Aptera 2e due to financial limitations. According to Fisker spokesperson Russel Diaz, the Fisker Karma will be delivered on time to customers beginning May or June of 2010. The corporate website reflects the same sentiments, “All orders received from mid-January onwards will be delivered in the second half of 2010. Effective Jan. 1 the deposit amount is $5,000.” Like the Aptera 2e, the Karma is currently available for pre-order with a $5,000 deposit. There’s also a convertible version, called the Karma S, and can be reserved for $25,000.

Looking at the Karma, I see it as the offspring of an Aston Martin DB9 and a Jaguar XJ. Not only is the Karma attractive on the outside, but its internal workings are almost mind-blowing. Almost. The Karma almost seems too good to be true with claims of zero-emissions and average mileage of 100 mpg (assuming total trip distance is less than 50 miles). Unlike the Tesla Roadster and Aptera 2e, the Karma will be able to transport four adults and offer a normal trunk. The Karma will complete more closely with the 2011 Tesla Model S, assuming Tesla (and/or Fisker) lasts that long.
