silent... but deadly

Most serious car enthusiasts and engineers don’t see hydrogen or electric cars dominating the industry anytime soon. For the most part, the immediate trend is towards hybrids and more efficient versions of existing technology, like diesel, cylinder shut off, turbo/super charging, etc. Hydrogen is always something of the holy grail of fuels (most plentiful substance in the universe), but creating it is tough/expensive. Now it seems… you can use pee. Apparently pure water isn’t the only source anymore, and urea is easier to refine because the bonds are weaker. Insane? Maybe. Will it work? In theory sure. I’m hoping the new technology actually works as well as it’s being hyped, since I think the Clarity is a better looking and more efficient alternative than the Volt, and far more practical (if the hydrogen fuel delivery infrastructure is in place) than any plug-in electric. I’m crossing my fingers. [Source: Green Car Reports]
