I’ve been accused of being a Hondaphile on occasion. Up until two weeks ago, I rocked a heavily modified (that’s modified, not tuned) EG Civic as a daily driver/track rat and my first car was an OG Legend. Thing is, as of late the company’s done a stellar job of breaking my heart. First there was word 2009 was going to be the last year for the S2000. Then the wicked V10 NSX got canned only to be resurrected and castrated down market. After that, the company bowed out of F1. Then, my last glimmering hope – the CR-Z – was announced to only come with a CVT. No more rowing your own in Honda’s “sport” hybrid. I’m still sweeping up bits of ventricle and aorta from the kitchen floor. Now it would seem Honda has partnered with Fila to churn out some wicked heritage race shoes. The kicks come with low-profile soles to give you gobs of feel, and sturdy polyurethane bits in the heel. They also rock some pretty snappy colors and come in both low and high-top designs. No word on the availability of flame-retardant varieties. Prices start at $65 for the low boys, and you can check out Fila for more info. Now if only I had a Honda to keep up with the shoes’ specs.
