Caterham

Pop quiz time, boys and girls. What’s the best way to increase an electric vehicle’s range? If you said add a crap-load more batteries, you’re probably right, but for the sake of an easy lead, let’s just say “reduce weight” is the correct answer. If that’s the case, the folks behind Caterham’s new effort to produce a sporty EV may just turn out to be one of the best electrified rides out there. Caterham’s known for excellent examples of Collin Chapman’s Lotus 7 design – a open-wheel beastie built for laying waste to corners. The company says it’s currently working on a hybrid and a full plug-in EV. Production should start in 2011 with a road car available to the public by 2012. Is it too much to ask for a turbo-diesel version? [Source: iMotor]

  1. I can honestly say I never thought Caterham would go this route…not in a bad way, just never even crossed my mind! I guess it’ll be interesting to see!
