For those of you that haven’t been reading my Cars N’ Games series, I have been talking about my visit to the Quakecon convention in Dallas, Texas. So far we’ve covered the cars of Quakecon, a Blue Corvette, and a nice one-sided discussion on the world of racing games, but in all, I must say that the best part of Quakecon has to be the geeks people.
This post is going to be slightly different than the others. No, I am not going to stop patting myself on the back, and no, I will not give hydrogen cars any praise. Hell will freeze over before that happens.
Instead, I will be talking about and comparing today’s biggest console and PC racing games, and hopefully someone at EA will read what I have to say and perhaps make a proper racing game. I see it as me doing my part to help the world, little by little. First up PGR4: Read the rest of this entry »
As I alluded to yesterday, the world of cars and the world of games have quite the synergy in both industries. This fact is most apparent in the world of racing games.
One of the best parts of my year is being given the pleasure to attend the inevitable summer wave of conferences. Thanks to the central location of Dallas, relative to the rest of the United States, my very own metroplex houses some of the coolest and most entertaining conferences around, including some killer car shows, gaming tournaments, and most importantly, the annual Quakecon event.

What happens when you mix John Carmack and Cars? PHUN!
This year, I was blessed to be able to cover the Quakecon event run by id software in Dallas, Texas, and boy did they offer us here at WebRidesTV a pleathora of new shtuff to talk about! As a matter of fact, there was so much new and exciting news in the automotive and gaming worlds that you will get to read my normal blathering banter every single day next week.
Isn’t that exciting?!
Especially when it was done right the first time!
In the latest news of things that make me want to vomit, the blogosphere has produced perhaps the most disgusting and horrible news I have ever read. Quite possibly one of the greatest crimes against humanity are to be perpitrated by the Italians, and we should do everything we can to keep them from getting away with it. That’s right, Ferrari is producing a hybrid.

They would sacrifice glory like this for gas mileage. Enzo Ferrari is rolling over in his grave.
If you don’t know the song referenced in the title, it’s likely that you’re stupid and bought one of these:
In today’s automotive world, gas prices greatly impact our driving behavior. The most prominent of these impacts can be seen when it comes to our choices about what cars we purchase. A great deal of emphasis is set on buying hybrids, but is it really cost beneficial to go green? Furthermore, is there anything that can be done to improve gas mileage altogether? Grab your calculator and pencil; there is probably going to be some big surprises in store.

Of course you do! But that’s not what we’re here today to talk about. Today, I will be talking about all the different kinds of fuel (or at least the kinds that wikipedia can tell me about), and what they all have going for (or for that matter against) them. This little faceoff will include good old gasoline, biofuel, hydrogen and the geeky glasses-wearing kid in the corner - electric. The criteria will include efficiency and the cool factor.
So let’s start out, shall we?

Seriously, suck on it…
…at least that’s probably what you’ll be doing when gas prices inevitably go up even higher.
