Joe Dono is an asshole. I am usually not one to bring up derogatory terms in a blogpost but Joe Dono has basically filled every requirement I set forth to be called one. Joe is a member of the Tampa Racing forums and also into having his Celica tuned. Joe, obviously lacking any skill or mental capacity of his own, decided to contract a local shop to do extensive work on his car initially giving them only money for supplies with promise of more money later on. After 4.5 months the shopped completely repainted his car, did custom sub enclosures, ecu installations and a slew of other things only to have Joe attempt to take his car back without paying……..

Motorcycles are amazingly fun, they are light have great power to weight ratios and let you bank for turns. The only problem with motorcycles is the fact that they do not have the safety features of a car. Theres something about having a steel frame surrounding me while driving that makes me feel extremely safe. Most people that want car safety with motorcycle speed buy supercars. For the rest of us there is a cheaper option, motorcycle engine powered cars. Motorcycle engine powered cars are great because they are usually light 2 seater kit cars that have high power to weight ratios. These cars handle and accelerate like motorcycles but tend to be a little more practical and cost a fair bit more. The Kneeslider.com has a great list of cars that are powered by motorcycle engines.

Mike Vilena on the 4×4 RC forums is creating a scale replica of the poopular 4AGE engine found in the 86 Toyota Corolla(or Hachi Roku for you Initial D/drift nuts) by hand. He is trying to make as much of it as he possibly can so that it is as close as possible to the real thing. The amount of detail going into this is ridiculous, it is made of plastic which means that it can’t really run but the amount of effort going into this project is ridiculous. Check out the post at the 4X4 RC forums!

Alex Pfeiffer riding dirty

Alex Pfeiffer is one of the judges for Formula D, the biggest professional drifting competition in the US. He has recently decided to relinquish his judging position in favor of competing again. Pfeiffer, an experienced driver has been out for a bit but we will see if he can still strut his stuff. It is a little odd that a judge has decided to leave mid season and compete and I think it could maybe cause baises in the judging of the remaining judges but the winner of a formula D event is usually obvious. GM released the pricing for the newest incarnation of the Corvette, the 2009 Corvette ZR1. Yes this car is a beast with 6.2 liter LS9 sporting 638 horsepower and 604 foot pounds of torque but I think this car is way too expensive for what it is. At 103,000 for the base model the ZR1 does not perform enough (in my opinion) to justify an extra 30,000 over the price of a Z06. The tuner in my head is thinking just buy a Z06 and supercharge it but then the argument could be made if your spending this much on a car just go the extra mile. Take the 103,000 MSRP and tack on another 20-30,000 and that should be about what it should cost after the dealer has added to the price.

Top Gear America, Adam Corolla, Taner Foust

Top Gear has finally set a date for their upcoming American flavor of the popular British car show. As we already know Adam Corolla is going to be one of the presenters but any other presenters were kept secret until now. Tanner Foust is going to be Adam’s cohort in crime, this could be good as I know tanner has experience running a show and I know he has actually racing experience from his drift and rally events. The two of them could be a nice balance with Adam Corolla’s antics and Tanner’s matter of fact approach to things. Let’s hope that Jay Leno’s forecast will not come to be.

Believe it or not this cars body panels are almost entirely made of self expanding foam. Based off a Mercedes a group of guys in Lithuania covered the entire car in foam and then began to meticulously carve each piece. In addition to doing the outside they also rebuilt a bunch of interior pieces. Check out the Gallery to see the construction pictures.

Ariel atom crash

Somewhere in Europe in a magical land filled with lederhosen and unicorns (belgium) a man was driving his Ariel Atom home after it had been worked on in a shop. Rumor* is that his accelerator stuck and causing him to lose traction and fly into the brick wall at a rate of speed high enough to completely smash the front. Rumor* is that the driver suffered 2 broken legs when the crush zones crumpled. From the looks of it the passenger wouldn’t have bode too well either. I am not surprised that it looks this bad, it is basically a supercar/gokart and they can only be so safe.

I say rumored because I have yet to find a story on this crash, just the pictures that I posted from sharpimages.be and a story from someone in the area.

Check out this gallery for a few more pictures!

Little Billy(Not real name) was driving along in his G35 at around 70 when all of a sudden he struck the cute furry little woodland creatures that we call raccoons. Since he was going such a high rate of speed and the fact that all seemed will with his car, he continued on his merry way and made it home with no problems. Upon evacuating his vehicle of internal combustion he happened upon the same furry woodland creature he had been sure he simply ran over.

-months that is

As we posted when the story was new 17 year old Nick Hogan was in an accident involving him street racing with another passenger in the car(not wearing a seatbelt) in his dad’s supra under the influence of alcohol. Following the accident the passenger in the car has ceased higher brain function and will need to live with the aid of machines for the rest of his life. Nick will be serving 8 months in jail as well as a suspension of his license for the next 3 years time. Some may say this is a lot for the crime but I think this is nowhere near bad enough for him completely ruining his friends life as well as causing his friends family a lot of pain.

I hope it doesn’t hurt his racing career
