Little Billy(Not real name) was driving along in his G35 at around 70 when all of a sudden he struck the cute furry little woodland creatures that we call raccoons. Since he was going such a high rate of speed and the fact that all seemed will with his car, he continued on his merry way and made it home with no problems. Upon evacuating his vehicle of internal combustion he happened upon the same furry woodland creature he had been sure he simply ran over.

As we posted when the story was new 17 year old Nick Hogan was in an accident involving him street racing with another passenger in the car(not wearing a seatbelt) in his dad’s supra under the influence of alcohol. Following the accident the passenger in the car has ceased higher brain function and will need to live with the aid of machines for the rest of his life. Nick will be serving 8 months in jail as well as a suspension of his license for the next 3 years time. Some may say this is a lot for the crime but I think this is nowhere near bad enough for him completely ruining his friends life as well as causing his friends family a lot of pain.
I hope it doesn’t hurt his racing career

Sebastian Loeb is one of the best rally drivers in the world. Currently driving for Citroen in the WRC he performs at the top level race after race giving his team great victories. I guess with his great success the hire-ups in the sport of racing will always need something to pick at. The chairman of the Confederation of African Countries in Motorsports, Surinder Thatthi, and the president of the World Rally Championship, Morrie Chandler, were both up in arms at the ‘unkempt’ Loeb. The fact that he was not clean shaven and that his hair was not cut was enough for them to both release a statement regarding it saying that “Of course these persons are an insult to real males”

As I posted a few weeks ago there is a new subaru/toyota RWD car rumored to be in the works and it seems as if Nissan could be entering that fight as well. This new car is debated to be the most recent incarnation of the S platform, being the S-16. The S platform is the same platform that brought us the 240sx and Silvia. The new car is said to sport a 2.0 liter NA engine or a 1.6 or 1.8 liter turbocharged engine bringing projected horsepower to around 220. If this car was to come out the 3 tiers of nissan performance coupes would all be available once again; the GTR taking the place of the skyline, the 350z taking the place of the 300zx and this new car taking the place of the 240sx. My only hope would be that if this does end up coming about that it will come to the US in the form of something people would want to actually buy, keeping it from being plagued by low sales. I personally own a 240sx S-14 and think it would be a great idea if something like this came out. It seems as if the auto industry is repeating the early to mid 90’s, at least for import manufacturers.

Kpipalldaway2(what a name) of the bimmer forums was driving down the 880 on his way to get more parts for an upcoming meet up. All of a sudden he spies with his little eye something that rhymes with pain. Well it doesn’t rhyme with pain but he sees a black object plummeting towards him. The object strikes his car and goes through the roof breaking his shoulder, destroying his M3 and, had it landed a bit more towards the driver side, he wouldn’t have been around to tell the tale. In pain and showered in glass he brings his car to a safe stop and then does the only thing that makes sense to do, takes Pictures!

Long title hu? The original title I had in mind was “Carroll the “mustang man” Shelby has begun the process of deciding to take delivery of the uber fast superformance-built shelby daytona cobra coupe with a lot of power” but it didn’t have as nice of a ring to it. Now we all know and love Caroll Shelby that guy that took a horribly small and outdated British chassis and a big Ford engine and crashed the two together with tires wider then a linbacker somehow making it all work. These days he may seem like that wilie old coot that has been messing with fords longer then Mr. Ford himself, but after all that he still enjoys them. The folks over at Shelby Automobiles of Las Vegas headed up by Amy Boylan decided to give Carroll this awesome car as a gift. Hit the jump for full details and the official press release.
You might not think much of this video when you watch it until you hear the fact that no CGI was used. The images in this video are comprised entirely of real life footage. His the jump to read about how they did it!

Now we all love the subaru Impreza. It has AWD, crap-tons of horsepower, and it beats the pants off of all other rally cars in WRC. There has however been a dispute in the car community as to whether the Impreza could be better suited as just a rear wheel drive car instead of an all wheel drive car. Toyota and Subaru have decided to make this possible. There are pros and cons to doing that, a few of the pros are it would be lighter since it didn’t have the extra pieces for all wheel drive and you could replace the inherit understeer with oversteer.(Which could be a con depending on who you ask) Autocar has the full story with their own mockup of what they think it will look like.

Sean Ironside was selling his beloved R32 GTR Skyline at Envision Auto in Alberta, Canada when on Wednesday the 26th it was stolen while out for a test drive. The thief was none other then The Claw(named for the lack of fingers on his left hand), a mastermind that decided to take the car after leaving a fake id with Envision Auto and then proceeding to drive around town asking people to race. After a bit of time members of the web forum beyond.ca in the area found The Claw driving the car and eventually followed him back to his house. The entire story along with video’s reactions from the beyond.ca community can be found at the beyond.ca forums

That’s right folks, as we speculated in a previous article Adam Corolla, comedian and host of the daily talk show “The Adam Corolla Show” is the first confirmed presenter for the upcoming American Top Gear. Those thought to be being considered prior to this announcement were Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, and Adam. Top gear is a british car show filled with reviews, the “star in a reasonably priced car” segment, and crazy challenges that the three presenters compete against each other in.
I think it will be cool having Adam Corolla do an american version of Top Gear. I am not quite sure if anything could match the hilarity of the current British one but based on what I have seen of Adam Corolla he has the ability to be entertaining and apparently, he knows cars. My question being, is he a James May, or a Richard Hammond? I think Jay Leno could be a good American Jeremy Clarkson.
