Last week I wrote about the new cars that will be featured in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen according to various blogs across the internet. This week I’m going to share with you the cars I’d like to see next summer when Revenge of the Fallen hits theaters near you and I. At first I thought Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg should stockpile the movie with exotic cars across the board, but what fun would that be if the movie was filled with cars 95% of the viewers have ever touched? I think what makes the movie so great is that it’s got cars you and I see on the road every day and cars that friends of friends drive. I can’t relate to a battle between an army of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. And here we go:

Greetings WebRides faithful, for all those wondering what happened to the MCotW last week allow me to explain. Last week I had intended to post the newest installment of MCotW when AT&T decided to take a s*** on my plans. You see, apparently when AT&T asked my dad if he wanted to bundle our internet and phone services together with no interruption in service they really meant to ask if they could f*** up our entire week with phone calls attempting to get the internet turned on. After countless hours on the phone and another few spent in anger management classes the internet got turned on this last weekend and after spending a few days in SLO moving into a new apartment I am back and ready to deliver one hell of a muscle car, the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle sYc or Yenko Chevelle. Now this wasn’t any ordinary Chevelle SS396 mind you, getting your hands on one of these beasts in 1969 meant you had to know a few tricks up your sleeve. Hit the jump. Now.

One of the best parts of my year is being given the pleasure to attend the inevitable summer wave of conferences.  Thanks to the central location of Dallas, relative to the rest of the United States, my very own metroplex houses some of the coolest and most entertaining conferences around, including some killer car shows, gaming tournaments, and most importantly, the annual Quakecon event.

That’s a lot of geeks.

When was the last time a vehicle came out in only a hybrid trim? Before the Toyota Prius, the Honda Insight took the stage as the predominant hybrid-only vehicle, but sales weren’t nearly as successful as the famed Prius. Honda has been pretty mum about their upcoming hybrid-only vehicle, but they have told the public that the Pruis-killer will cost around $18,500. The current Prius starts at $21,500 before dealer markups. The new Honda will take a shape similar to Honda’s fuel cell FCX Clarity which underwent a limited release in Santa Monica, California recently. The arched 5-door hatchback shape, which is similar to the Prius’ profile, is symbolic of the hybrid movement.

Last Summer, Transformers showed that mechanical super heros can be as popular is super humans. Since its opening, Transformers has grossed over $700M in revenue. The sequel, Rise of the Fallen is coming out next summer and production is going on right now. FIlming has been spotted in California, Arizone, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. If you like Transformers more than Ironman (like I do), you’re probably curious to know what new cars will be suiting up for the Autobots and Decepticons. My friend actually worked for the first movie and was involved in product placement. Transformers 2 will still be mostly GM cars, but there are some nice new wheels. Here’s what’s been discovered so far:

Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here for your weekly dose of foreign fridays!  As I’m sure you all know, the big news around the world today is the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Thanks to the games, lots of other international news (like the war that just erupted between Georgia and Russia) is getting short shrift, but the real travesty is that… there are no motor sports at the Olympic Games! Hit the jump to read why we  should add motor sports to the Olympics! Read the rest of this entry »

Happy weekend Web Riders, this is Big_Blocker with a bit of information I came across reading the headlines in the automotive world this morning. I saw a headline that had a list of the top selling cars in the US for the month of July and I was surprised at what I found. Not only were economy cars not the top seller in July, but the Big Three automakers held a firm grasp in the top ten with their full-size truck sales. I found this very shocking and began to think about what rising fuel prices are doing to demand for gas-guzzling trucks. Hit the jump to read more. Read the rest of this entry »

While the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Mustang are legendary American cars that can always be found here in the States, there are some cars not sold in the United States that are quite unique. Most of these unavailable cars are sold in Europe and others are sold throughout Asia. Some cars wouldn’t be profitable here in the States and some just simply aren’t offered.
