So i just got back from the time of my life at Jim Hall Kart Racing School. Last Sunday some friends and I headed up the coast to attend one of the most exhilirating events i’ve ever taken part in. This isn’t your average 2 mile an hour go kart track, this is the real deal, or at least where the future F1 drivers go to work there way up the chain.
After the quick and scenic trip up the coast their track, located just off the 101 in Oxnard, we got out and stretched our legs for what was to become an epic day. When we arrived, we were greeted by the staff who were prepping the karts for the day. They cleaned the engines, changed tires and did a safety check on each kart before we started. Since, i had never been in a kart that went over 20 mph before, i was a little nervous, but after chatting with one of the 12 year olds that had been to the kart multiple times, my nerves were settled, as it became clear that these karts were one of the safest motor sports around. Numerous small companies have been reportedly interested in a deal to aquire the Viper. The two seater has been known for its heavy pricetag, huge horsepower/torque output, and its tendency to bite unsuspecting/novice drivers by oversteering into ditches. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the best parts of my year is being given the pleasure to attend the inevitable summer wave of conferences. Thanks to the central location of Dallas, relative to the rest of the United States, my very own metroplex houses some of the coolest and most entertaining conferences around, including some killer car shows, gaming tournaments, and most importantly, the annual Quakecon event.
When was the last time a vehicle came out in only a hybrid trim? Before the Toyota Prius, the Honda Insight took the stage as the predominant hybrid-only vehicle, but sales weren’t nearly as successful as the famed Prius. Honda has been pretty mum about their upcoming hybrid-only vehicle, but they have told the public that the Pruis-killer will cost around $18,500. The current Prius starts at $21,500 before dealer markups. The new Honda will take a shape similar to Honda’s fuel cell FCX Clarity which underwent a limited release in Santa Monica, California recently. The arched 5-door hatchback shape, which is similar to the Prius’ profile, is symbolic of the hybrid movement.

What happens when you mix John Carmack and Cars? PHUN!
This year, I was blessed to be able to cover the Quakecon event run by id software in Dallas, Texas, and boy did they offer us here at WebRidesTV a pleathora of new shtuff to talk about! As a matter of fact, there was so much new and exciting news in the automotive and gaming worlds that you will get to read my normal blathering banter every single day next week.
Isn’t that exciting?!

Claiming to be America’s most fuel efficient automaker, Honda sales have taken a significant hit this past month. Truck sales (Ridgeline) have declined by a staggering 27.8% while car sales have set a record with a 6.7% rise in sales. Overall, the decline of truck sales dragged Honda’s overall sales down 9.2%. The 125,916 sales represents a 8.2% drop from July sales in 2007.

Happy weekend Web Riders, this is Big_Blocker with a bit of information I came across reading the headlines in the automotive world this morning. I saw a headline that had a list of the top selling cars in the US for the month of July and I was surprised at what I found. Not only were economy cars not the top seller in July, but the Big Three automakers held a firm grasp in the top ten with their full-size truck sales. I found this very shocking and began to think about what rising fuel prices are doing to demand for gas-guzzling trucks. Hit the jump to read more. Read the rest of this entry »
