Honda fans are finally blessed with a video of the new NSX in action around the Nurburgring. Mercedes Benz SLC AMG

Mercedes Benz is soon to join the lineup of manufacturers with upcoming supercars (such as the Corvette ZR1, Nissan GTR, Honda NSX, and Lexus LFA) with the Mercedes Benz SLC AMG Coupe (targeted for model year 2011). While it has been spotting lapping the Nurburgring numerous times, many onlookers mistake it for a Dodge Viper concept car due to the clever camoflauge that it sports. Most manufacturers opt to cover their pre-production cars with a zebra stripped or military camo pattern tarps, Mercedes Benz took it one step farther and dressed up the SLC AMG as a Dodge Viper. It does not look quite with a viper body but the confusion about over the spy photos is a testament to the effectiveness of the disguise.

Mercedes Benz SLC AMG

The SLC AMG is rumored to use a turbocharged V8 engine that puts down 700 horsepower. Instead of working with McLaren this time around, Mercedes Benz has decided to partner with HWA (Hans Werner Aufrecht) which is another organization lead by one of the co founders of AMG as well as being a former Mercedes engineer.

Ferrari California

A new host of pictures have arrived for the Ferrari California that are NOT rendered. These new pictures of the Italian supercar show its roof being lowered, engine shots, and some interior shots. The roof is a retractable hardtop that rests in the trunk area after the trunk lid/tonneau cover tilts towards the back of the vehicle. Shots of the engine show off the standard Ferrari matte red valve cover with the prancing horse logo prominently displayed at the front. Interior photos show off the gorgeous tan leather that covers every surface of the California’s interior. We can catch a glimpse of the Manettino dial that is standard on all Ferraris - The California’s dial shows three settings: Comfort, Sport, and CST (striked out).

Ferrari California

The Ferrari California is a grand touring convertible sports car that is targeted for MY 2009 and later. It first debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor show and is destined to be the first Ferrari to feature a front mounted V8 engine as well as a dual clutch transmission. The car will be powered by a 4.3 Liter V8 engine that has an estimated output of 453 BHP. This mdoel will be available with carbon ceramic brakes as a standard option.

The “California” name is a throwback to the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Spyder LWB which was brought to the public’s attention from it’s appearence in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, where it served as the hero car.

Our spies caught up with the next gen 1 series mule and snapped some tasty photos for ya’ll to enjoy. One of the biggest changes to the one series will be a focus on more rear passenger space. From these photos you can already see a wider stance and more spacious rear seat room.

We’ve also heard rumors about changes to the tech inside the 1 series. We’re hoping they get a new iDrive system. Never the less, Europeans should expect a plethora of options from the next one series to include: hatchback, coupe, 4 door, awd, and convertible.

Spy shots of the new NSX replacement have been posted along with some new information about the car. Looks like Honda’s new competitor in the pseudo-supercar market will be have a couple crucial changes from their previous tried and true formula of a lightweight mid-engined sports car with a V6 powerplant. Honda’s new NSX is rumored to have a V10 engine (that will likely have small displacement and a stratospheric redline in true Honda fashion) with the engine in the front unlike all previous NSX models. It is rumored to put power to the ground through a rear wheel biased version of Honda’s SH-AWD (Super Handling - All Wheel Drive) which first debuted on the Honda Prelude and has been implemented on cars such as the Acura MDX, Acura RL, and Acura RDX.

NSX Spy Shots

While most fans of Honda’s superstar NSX are probably not too pleased with Honda messing with the “formula” of the NSX, it seems that some of these changes are necessary to stay competitive in today’s market. A 2+2 seating configuration will make this car appealing to a wider variety of consumers, a large V10 engine would be necessary to keep up among its competitors - as a naturally aspirated V6 is not much by today’s standards, and the front engine all wheel drive drivetrain configuration will make the car less of a hassle to service while increasing grip.

With cars like the Nissan GT-R, Lexus LF-A, and the Honda NSX comingn out in the not so distant future, it looks like we are heading into a Japanese supercar horsepower arms race. Last time that happened cars such as the Toyota Supra Turbo, Mazda RX-7 Turbo, and the Nissan 300ZX Turbo were produced, so this is definately not a bad thing.

We used to think that the CL63 AMG Black edition was the sickest concoction that Mercedes Benz had ever come up with until we saw these spy photos of the new SL65 AMG Black edition.

If you’ve been watching the Formula 1 racing season this year, then you’d know that the new SL65 was the pace car for the races. And you’d also get a hint of things to come from Mercedes Benz. They seem to have a more performance oriented tone with their new offerings which is no doubt a response to added pressure from the likes of their European cousins, Audi and BMW.
