Carol Shelby has a long history with turbocharging. The man responsible for some of the quickest and most legendary metal on the planet flirted with forced induction back in the ‘80s when he hung around with the Chrysler crowd. Now it looks like 2010 Ford Mustang buyers can opt for a special Shelby turbo package. Consisting of a Turbonetics sing-tubo system, the car produces a mythic 550 horsepower from an otherwise stock 4.6-liter V8. A short throw shifter, unique grille and Borla exhaust are all part of the package, too. No word on price, but it should be substantially less expensive than the big bad GT500. [Source: Ford]

It looks like Triumph and Tag Heuer have partnered for a tribute edition bike designed as a salute the king of cool himself – Steve McQueen. Called the Bonneville-Heuer, the bike is a nod to the half-century anniversary of the Bonneville Bike as well as 40-years since the first Tag Heuer Monaco watch first found its way onto the wrists of bad asses everywhere. If, like us, you want one, that’s too bad. Triumph only build one homage to awesome and the bike will spend its life touring shows before getting holed up in a museum somewhere. Michael Schumacher has partnered with advanced mixologist Salvatore Calabrese to show the world just what happens when you try to mix a drink while being thrown around in a Maserati Quattroporte. Needless to say, things don’t go too well for Calabrese, but the rest of us get a hilarious reminder to not drink and drive this weekend. Burnouts, power slides and plenty of sheer awesome ensue. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG hasn’t even hit dealers yet and the aftermarket is already salivating at the possibilities. Example, you ask? How about Gullwing America’s SLS Panamerica. The whole project is designed to give the new Gully a little retro flair a la the legendary Panamerica race through Mexico. The car gains a couple of visual cues like fender eyebrows constructed of aluminum or carbon fiber, as well as some damn sharp racing stripes. For the first time on American soil, Kia is going racing. The Korean automaker has decided to tackle the 2010 Koni Grand Am Challenge with a specially-built pair Forte Koups. The company’s keeping the car’s modifications to itself, but it’s clear this is a full race-spec car, complete with a rolle cage, dropped suspension and brake upgrades. Both cars will compete in the Street Tuner class and will be driven by Andy Lally and Nic Jonsson. Very cool, but how long until we can order up race-inspired parts for our front-wheel drive Fortes? Porsche gave the world a tasty little bit of news this morning. By the time 2011 rolls around, the world will be treated to a new, light-weight Spyder version of its pint-sized Boxster. Porsche’s whittled the little drop-head’s weight down to 2,811 lbs – the lightest car currently under the Porsche banner – and nudged the horsepower up to 320. That’s 10 more ponies than the Boxster S, and joined with tricks like a lower ride height, beefier brakes and new top, the power helps make the car plenty quick. Expect to pay around $61,200. So it turns out BMW’s new club racer isn’t actually called the M3 GT4, but the M3 GTS. Still, the car remains the street-legal version of the GT4 racer that’s dominated race tracks all over the world for the past year. A 4.4-liter, naturally-aspirated V8 engine produces 440 horsepower, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission clicks through the gears faster than you can say achtung! Sport coilovers, mega brakes and a full safety system round out the changes and make BMW’s fighter even more fit for battle. Hop over to the gallery for a look-see at all the awesome. The more I hear about the VW Scirocco, the more bummed I get it’s not fit for U.S. consumption. Tuner MR Car Design has whipped up its own take on the sleek coupe, complete with a pain job in our favorite color. Aside from the matte black theme and awesome wheels, MR has bumped the car’s power up to 370 ponies. That’s a lot of pep for a front-wheel drive car, but a limited-slip diff makes sure both wheels pull their weight. Other additions include four-piston front brakes, and KW V3 coilovers. You know what the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro doesn’t need? An unhealthy dose of Lamborghini Reventon styling. That hasn’t stopped a UK-based importer from cranking out this monstrosity for our cousins across the way. Aside from that seriously fugly front end, we can also expect a large rear spoiler and some more grunt under the hood. The VR packs a new supercharger that ups the base SS car’s power from 430 ponies to a heady 600. We can only guess at the price once taxes, import duties and tuning fees are taken care of.
