Joe Dono is an asshole. I am usually not one to bring up derogatory terms in a blogpost but Joe Dono has basically filled every requirement I set forth to be called one. Joe is a member of the Tampa Racing forums and also into having his Celica tuned. Joe, obviously lacking any skill or mental capacity of his own, decided to contract a local shop to do extensive work on his car initially giving them only money for supplies with promise of more money later on. After 4.5 months the shopped completely repainted his car, did custom sub enclosures, ecu installations and a slew of other things only to have Joe attempt to take his car back without paying……..
One of the best parts of my year is being given the pleasure to attend the inevitable summer wave of conferences. Thanks to the central location of Dallas, relative to the rest of the United States, my very own metroplex houses some of the coolest and most entertaining conferences around, including some killer car shows, gaming tournaments, and most importantly, the annual Quakecon event.
Volkswagen may enter the mid engined roadster/coupe market with its new concept car if reactions are positive at the Los Angeles Autoshow. This new car will be designed with a philosophy similar to cars such as the Lotus Elise, Mazda Miata, and Honda S2000; keep the weight low and throw in a small but high revving engine. When was the last time a vehicle came out in only a hybrid trim? Before the Toyota Prius, the Honda Insight took the stage as the predominant hybrid-only vehicle, but sales weren’t nearly as successful as the famed Prius. Honda has been pretty mum about their upcoming hybrid-only vehicle, but they have told the public that the Pruis-killer will cost around $18,500. The current Prius starts at $21,500 before dealer markups. The new Honda will take a shape similar to Honda’s fuel cell FCX Clarity which underwent a limited release in Santa Monica, California recently. The arched 5-door hatchback shape, which is similar to the Prius’ profile, is symbolic of the hybrid movement.

Last Summer, Transformers showed that mechanical super heros can be as popular is super humans. Since its opening, Transformers has grossed over $700M in revenue. The sequel, Rise of the Fallen is coming out next summer and production is going on right now. FIlming has been spotted in California, Arizone, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. If you like Transformers more than Ironman (like I do), you’re probably curious to know what new cars will be suiting up for the Autobots and Decepticons. My friend actually worked for the first movie and was involved in product placement. Transformers 2 will still be mostly GM cars, but there are some nice new wheels. Here’s what’s been discovered so far:

Howdy Webriders! Dr. VW here for your weekly dose of foreign fridays! As I’m sure you all know, the big news around the world today is the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Thanks to the games, lots of other international news (like the war that just erupted between Georgia and Russia) is getting short shrift, but the real travesty is that… there are no motor sports at the Olympic Games! Hit the jump to read why we should add motor sports to the Olympics! Read the rest of this entry »
Now-a-days people put in all sorts of effort to get what they want. This goes even with their automobiles. They invest hugely to get it modified or as luxurious as possible. But take a look at this guy’s car, which is fitted with an air conditioner (an off-beat one)! He has really taken the word ‘Comfort’ or ‘Luxury’ to the next level.

JoeCartoon blog says, “Staying cool in these hot summer months is a state of mind as much as anything, especially if you don’t mind looking like this guy.”
Our Project Evo build up has been going on for a bit now and we’re ready to review where we are. In terms of suspension, you can readily see the awesome stance of the car. Even though it’s sitting pretty and low to the ground, there is plenty of ground clearance. We’re still looking for some additional bracing options. So we’ll look into products from Cusco and Tanabe to see what will fit the bill. Here’s what’s been done thus far on the handling end of things:

What happens when you mix John Carmack and Cars? PHUN!
This year, I was blessed to be able to cover the Quakecon event run by id software in Dallas, Texas, and boy did they offer us here at WebRidesTV a pleathora of new shtuff to talk about! As a matter of fact, there was so much new and exciting news in the automotive and gaming worlds that you will get to read my normal blathering banter every single day next week.
Isn’t that exciting?!
My good friends over at Endless USA, specifically Dominic Chen, wrote this pretty comprehensive write up on the new Nissan GT-R’s brake system. Take a read. Lots of technical information contained within.

With a good portion of my time recently devoted to R35 brake solutions, I figured I’d post as much as I could so that all of the facts and key points are in one place. It makes it easier for me to remember everything and hopefully some of you will find it useful or at least interesting.
