I never really embraced Audi as a justifiable tuning platform. Here in the land of the free, the entry fee for a quattro terror was just a little too steep to justify, especially when there were so many dirt cheap Civics laying around. But after watching the video after the jump, I’m closest I’ve come to regretting my days on the JDM path. See, some crazy Grecians managed to pull a blistering 800 horsepower from a 3.2-liter S3. If you’ve been salivating for a chance to see the German tuner MTM’s take on the Audi TT-RS in action, look no further. The company’s French arm has rolled out a video showing the wicked turbo five-cylinder strutting its stuff. Just for a refresher, MTM managed to yank a full 424 horsepower from the engine and threw in a host of aesthetic upgrades to boot. The Audi A3 has to be one of the hottest hatches on sale anywhere right now. Damn fine styling, decent power from the gas turbo four or outstanding fuel economy in TDI guise and one sweet dual-clutch transmission make the car a perfect pick in the sub $30k range. Well, almost perfect. See, our friends in Europe can have the S3 – basically the go-fast version of the A3. More power, hardcore suspension, brakes, uber sweet interior – you know, all the goodies that comes with Audi’s S Line. NYT and Automobile writer Ezra Dyer was lucky enough to secure an R8 from Audi. Unfortunately, he had the car in the middle of one of the worst snow storms in the North East’s recent history. Not to be discouraged, the guy did a little digging with a snow shovel and hit the streets for some fun in the snow. We’ve got to admit the R8’s delicious all-wheel drive makes it pretty fit for dashing through the white stuff, but what would you choose for your all-weather hoon machine? We tend to lean Subaru in these parts, but just to make it interesting, let’s put the price tag at $75,000 or above. Go.

When it comes to concept cars, most manufacturers produce examples that are little more than fiberglass and plastic, but Audi’s e-Tron electric R8 is a fully-functional car. With four electric motors – one at each wheel – the car packs around 313 horsepower and a little over 500 lb-ft of torque. Aside from the fancy drivetrain, the car packs otherworldly styling and a very slick interior. If you’ve been thinking Audi missed the boat by not churning out an RS version of its pint-sized A3 fighter, you’re not alone. Hardcore Audi fans and lover of horsepower everywhere are pining for the mean A3 that could have been. MR Car Design has taken it upon itself to rectify the situation with its S3 Black Performance Edition. The car rocks a new easy-breathing exhaust system and a reworked ECU along with an intercooler the size of Kansas to up the car’s heart beat to a more healthy 337 horsepower. Now we’re talking. While it’s easy to throw a few 0-60 figures and a dyno chart, those things don’t really help you figure out just how fast this thing is. Instead, what we need is the VF car lined up against a bone stock version to go fender to fender. Luckily for us, that’s exactly what VF Engineering has done.
