Alright, more breaking news from the North American International Auto Show, this time from Ford Motor Company. Well, actually it isn’t from Ford itself, but rather their sub-division Lincoln. The flashy new Lincoln C concept has just debuted at the NAIAS and features several technological innovations sure to please many people. Hit it to read more.

The Lincoln C represents the future for the brand and exudes futuristic exterior designs as well as state-of-the-art tecnological advances on the inside. Ford/Lincoln engineers hope to further connect driver’s with their automobiles in an attempt to form a sort of friendship on and off the road. Dubbed the Human Machine Interface (HMI), the car works to alert the driver of all things pertinent to driving, everything from road conditions to passenger comfort, all while maintaing adequate focus and saftey. Automobile related informations lies on the left side of the gauge cluster while such amenities as audio, climate and navigation are on the right side. If the driver wishes to stay focused on driving there are both steering wheel controls as well as voice-activated command sequences available. This voice command system, known as SYNC, features an avatar code named ‘EVA’ that responds much like a person would in conversation and eliminates the need for learned voice commands. The voice system even allows the driver to surf the internet all by voice to check traffic conditions as well as weather, pretty interesting stuff if you as me. If you want more auto show premier coverage check out past blogs to read more. Big_Blocker out.

Howdy Webriders! I know. Its been awhile. Like many road trips and vacations, I wanted to put off this last installment for our San Diego Auto Adventure as long as I could. However the time has come, and Dr. VW is here to give you the last installment. Don’t blow an intake gasket though! Theres another Auto Adventure on the way…

Without Further ado, my last pick from the San Diego Auto show is…

The Chrysler 300C

At first glance, the 300C is ho hum. Old news. However that was what got my attention. In the 4 years since its release, the 300C has arrived in as many incarnations as the unmentionable Mustang. However, unlike the Mustang, which is basically the same body with different drivetrain mods, the 300C does the opposite, usually having heavy body modification with mild and somewhat basic drivetrain upgrades. Why one earth would I pick looks over performance? Well… some cars are just made to look flashy. And the 300C is a perfect example. There are very few things that make a 300C look bad.

One of these pristine examples from the show was the “Cinister”. This 300C was meant to look like a hot rod, rolling in faux black primer, with red and silver pin striping. I liked the overall look, and I was especially impressed with how well it looked next to the two tone black and white 300C “Royale”. The two contrasting vehicles led me to see how the 300C was a blank surface in which a lot of different design elements could radically transform the car without making it look silly or like a ricer, like many imports do. Not only that, but while many cars these days can’t pull off vintage chrome, the 300C is classy enough to be able to add it to just about any piece of trim, whether it be the rims, moldings, or random interior bits. This is something that vintage cars come with as a matter of course, while modern cars look cheap and garish by comparison with the same amenities.

Even by itself, the 300C is powerful enough, but I won’t beat the dead horse. This car got my pick for the sole ability to don many different masks and wear them well; something many cars attempt and very few succeed.

That concludes our San Diego Auto Adventure, but stay tuned for our next little trip! In the meantime, be sure to check out the gallery and leave a comment! This is Dr. VW- signing off.
