Although the Big Three are not out of the woods yet, the good news for Ford keeps on coming as their flagship model, the 2009 F150, is constantly rewarded for its class leading towing & hauling as well as fuel economy.

Although I myself enjoy the likes of the 2009 Dodge Ram, I will admit that Ford has picked a winner in the 2009 F150 and it is probably the only other truck I would drive if there were no other Rams around. The 09 F150 boasts a ton of available variants (in true Ford fashion) including the full-size F150 SFE that delivers best in class fuel ecomony at 15 city and 21 highway. Although Dodge beats the F150 out in horsepower and torque (had to say that), the F150’s beefed up leaf spring suspension allows for hauling of up to 3,030 pounds and towing of up to 11,300 pounds when properly equipped of course.

These features combined with performance in a battery of tests make it Motor Trend’s 2009 Truck of the Year. (It should be noted that although this is a prestigious award in the eyes of consumers, I lost a good deal of respect for the Motor Trend guys after they picked the GT-R as car of the year). Other recent awards include:

- Finalist for North American Truck of the Year

- 2009 Best Redesigned Vehicle from Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com

- “Truck of Texas Honors (no surprise there….)

- “Best Overall Half-Ton Pickup” from PickupTrucks.com

- “Accessory-Friendly Truck” Design Award from SEMA

- as well as some others…

Well, like em or not, the 2009 F150 delivers where it counts and the above listed awards seem to prove it. Just give Dodge a year or so to up the payload and towing and we will see who wins it later on, but I digress. Big_Blocker out.
