Master hoon Ken Block is back at it with his STI. This time he’s set a goal of having the fastest snow cat in the world, and has bolted a set of Trax runners to his already awesome Subaru. Hilarity ensues, including a few killer shots of Block tear-assing around the slopes in what could possibly be the world’s first Subaru tank. We want one. No, scratch that. We want two so we can race around when the going gets snowy. Hop the jump for a look-see at the action.

Last Summer, Transformers showed that mechanical super heros can be as popular is super humans. Since its opening, Transformers has grossed over $700M in revenue. The sequel, Rise of the Fallen is coming out next summer and production is going on right now. FIlming has been spotted in California, Arizone, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. If you like Transformers more than Ironman (like I do), you’re probably curious to know what new cars will be suiting up for the Autobots and Decepticons. My friend actually worked for the first movie and was involved in product placement. Transformers 2 will still be mostly GM cars, but there are some nice new wheels. Here’s what’s been discovered so far:

(Courtesy of transformerslive.blogspot.com)

Look for this new Chevrolet Trax to be rolling with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee as an Autobot.

The mini Chevy Beat tailing the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS (Bumblebee) looks to cute to be a Decepticon, right? Then again, the XBox 360 and Mountain Dew vending machine were the same green tint.

No pictures of a Chevy Volt as a Transformer yet, but some inside reports say the Volt will be riding alongside its brother Camaro in Rise of the Fallen. Interesting choice considering none of the Transformers run on gasoline anyway.

This picture’s not very clear, but it’s clear enough to reveal the Audi R8 that is back to back with another sexy silver sports car. Hopefully it’s not just randomly parked up there and actually is an Autobot.

You’re looking at the Hummer HX Concept and Hummer H3T. Please tell me these aren’t the cars that Tyrese and his military folks are going to be driving around. My Spidey sense tell me they’ll be Decepticons. Everything military-grade was a Decepticon in the first movie.

It’s only right for the Corvette Centennial Design Concept to join the likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro in the spotlight. Perhaps a Dodge Viper for Transformers 3?

That’s all I’ve found so far, but there’s something I need to admit to everyone. I had one gripe with the first movie. When the Autobots crash-landed in Los Angeles and they were choosing which vehicles to model themselves after, why did Jazz choose to the Pontiac Solstice when there was a perfectly good Cadillac XLR parked right next to it? That’s all. Next post will talk about which vehicles I’d like to see in the coming sequels.

Good day.

According to Car and Driver, the 2010 Toyota Prius is expected to receive a face lift that will make it more outlandish than ever along with a bump in power and fuel economy. Along with the cosmetic changes, the wheelbase and track are planned to grow. While it is quite impressive that it will achieve an even higher MPG number while increasing power (all in a car with larger dimensions), the absurdly high beltline looks like a squished minivan.

A smart alternative for those that do not wish to hop on the hybrid bandwagon are mini cars. Smart Cars have been slowly infiltrating the surface streets of my city over the span of a couple months now. Chevrolet also plans to join the mini car game with their mini car triplet lineup – the Chevrolet Beat, Groove, and Trax. They held a contest where US citizens could vote for one of the model and the winner would be brought to the US. The Chevrolet Beat was the winner so you can plan on seeing them on the streets in no time. It features a 1.2 liter turbocharged engine and a hatchback design, so it should be a popular choice with those on a budget.
